The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
SCBWI, formed in 1971 by a group of Los Angeles based writers for children, is the only international organization to offer a variety of services to people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children's literature. The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people.

Smart Writers
"Smart Writers" (One of my favorite sites!) is designed by writers for writers, by educators for educators.

Southern Breeze
SCBWI has members all over the world in over sixty regional entities. The Southern Breeze Region serves the states of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. There is also a "Border Patrol" of members in the Panhandle area of Florida.

Harold Underdown
The Purple Crayon site has information and resources on children's publishing.

The Children's Book Council
The Children's Book Council (CBC) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to encouraging literacy and the use and enjoyment of children's books, and is the official sponsor of Young Peoples Poetry Week and Children's Book Week each year. The Councils Members include U.S. publishers and packagers of trade books for children and young adults.
