1. Join the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators ~ ww.scbwi.org

2. Write often and develop your story

3. Read books and magazines for kids

4. Join a critique group that specializes in your genre

5. Attend writing conferences to learn the craft and the business

6. Enter writing contests

7. Network with other writers . . . learn from your peers!

8. Buy the Children’s Writer’s and Illustrator’s Market (F&W Publications) and study the markets

9. Submit your polished work to editors and agents

10. Be passionate about your work, explore opportunities and resources, and have fun!
