Thanks for stopping by.
I'm the tall girl in the corner trying to balance in high heels. Stilettos are not what I do best. I enjoy sports, reading, laughing (cutting up) and spending time with my husband and our spunky daughter. I began dibble dabbling with writing in 2002. It started on a whim, after reading The Magic Hat by Mem Fox. I thought it looked easy. (Looks can be deceiving, and in this case, that was so incredibly true!) So I filled up all of my spare time and wrote day and night, like a hamster on an exercise wheel. Day after day . . . repeat, repeat, repeat. I learned very quickly that (good) writing is very hard.
Finally, in 2004, my teen novel-in-progress placed first in the Writer's Digest writing competition. They sent me a big check (WAY COOL). Fast forward to 2006 . . . I was offered my first book contract by Enslow Publishers. I finished a second book for Enslow in 2009. These days I am working on a middle grade novel, set in the south.
My day job is at Emory. My night job is writing, and I occasionally take a break to play tennis. Or is it the other way around?
Before you scoot, drop me an email, find out what’s new, and of course, come back any old time!
